If you drive a car with a manual gearbox, you are familiar with the difficulty of shifting gears. It's not as simple as driving with an automatic gearbox, in which all you have to do is swap gears lever once before going.
When operating a manual automobile, you must constantly swap gears while driving and completing numerous tasks. If you don't shift gears correctly, you risk damaging your transmission, which would be expensive to fix or replace.
5 TIPS FOR KNOWING WHEN TO SHIFT GEARS
If you need assistance with properly shifting gears in your automobile, here are five suggestions to get you started.
#1 – CHANGING BLOCKS
Shifting gears does not have to be done in any particular order. This is what block changing is when you skip a gear. The advantage of block changing is that you will get greater gas mileage and your clutch will last longer.
#2 – ACCELERATION IN LOWER GEARS
If you wish to accelerate swiftly when driving, go to a lower gear because this will offer your automobile greater power. Simply remove your foot off the accelerator pedal to slow the automobile down, and it will do it on its own.
With high gears, you won't notice it as much, but with lower ratios, it'll be obvious.
#3: SHIFTING GEARS PROPERLY

While pressing down on the clutch, take your foot off the accelerator pedal. To shift gears softly, take one hand off the steering wheel. Slowly release clutch pressure as you begin to press down on the accelerator pedal again.
Some automobiles are more difficult to shift than others. This might be due to a high-performance clutch that requires more effort to work, or it could simply be that there is an issue with your gearbox that makes shifting difficult.
#4 – PAY ATTENTION TO THE ENGINE NOISE
Listen to the noises your engine makes to determine when you need to change gears. Deeper noises indicate a low RPM range, but louder, higher pitched sounds indicate a high RPM and the need to shift gears.
With enough practice, you'll be able to tell when to shift gears just only on the engine sound.
#5 – FOR SPEED, USE HIGH GEARS

There's a distinction to be made between acceleration and speed. Acceleration refers to how quickly your speed varies, whereas speed refers to how far you traveled in a certain length of time (e.g. 5 miles-per-hour).
You will choose high gears if you wish to go at a quicker speed. Low gears are used for acceleration if you wish to accelerate swiftly. In most circumstances, high gears won't help you accelerate quickly.
CONCLUSION
Even if you do not currently drive a manual transmission automobile, you may do so in the future, and it is critical that you know how to shift gears properly so that you may perform effectively as a driver. If you follow the advice given above, you will be able to extend the life of your transmission and vehicle for many years.
